More under the category: What MAC is Launching This Summer, is their new collection of permanent nail polishes. There will be 30 different (some are old favorites, some new, and some re-releases) shades from neutrals like beige and ballerina pink through to bold colors like tangerine and hot pink through to metallic and glitters, plus a clear polish, in three finishes–pearl, frost, and cream.
Available at MAC Cosmetics on July 5, each bottle will retail for $16.
After MAC artist Keri Blair created manicures for the Ruffian show this past Fashion Week we are now given a peak at the collection the two brands created together. Each season, Ruffian creates a half-moon manicure that they incorporate into their catwalk show, and this year it served as the inspiration behind their MAC collection. The line consists of chic press-on nails in a range of different half-moon shapes and color combinations. In addition to the press-on nails, there will be a selection of matching lipsticks. The full Ruffian for MAC Cosmetics collection will be available on June 18 at MACCosmetics.com. Prices will start at $15.
Deborah Lippmann has taking inspiration from Snow White and the Huntsman, the one of many Snow White interpretations out this year starring Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart. The polish duo represents the archetypal good vs. evil: on the good side, you will find Kiss, a pretty pale pink hue inspired by Kristen Stewart’s character, Snow White. On the evil side, you will find Dark Side of the Moon, a deep aubergine hue inspired by Charlize Theron’s Evil Queen. The set retails for $25.
In a time of nail overlays, Mulberry introduces its new bag (named after crooner Lana Del Rey) at an event complimented by Zoe Pocock Nail Rock manicures.
Pocock has previously partnered with designers like Mulberry’s Emma Hill, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Gretchen Jones—not to mention retailers like Topshop—on exclusive prints. This collection used two different prints inspired by Lana Del Rey’s hometown and her preference for moon manicures. “We’ve just done it for the global launch,” she says of the designs that will make the rounds from London to Korea as Mulberry’s international boutiques celebrate the new bag.
Keep an eye out on Pocock’s Web site, as she is considering making them available there as well.
OPI’S FIRST NAIL LACQUER STICKERS
After a few years of huge global success with their beautiful and trendy releases in cream, metallic, and glitter finishes, OPI is finally hoping on board the print train and proving who’s still the Queen of all things nail lacquer.
OPI’s new Pure Lacquer Nail Apps come in 14 different nail strips and are made from 100 percent varnish that can be stretched and cut to fit both fingers and toes. They’re easily wiped away with plain old remover, too, so you don’t have to bother with all the picking and peeling when you’re ready to switch things up. Sick, right?

New York-based perfumer Bond No 9 names almost all of its scents (except their recent scent that celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s sixtieth year on the throne) after New York City people and places, from Andy Warhol to Little Italy. But its latest fragrance celebrates the state of New York’s support of same-sex marriage.
Named I Love New York for Marriage Equality, the fragrace features a rainbow-colored heart and the date 7.24.11, the day that the Marriage Equality Act became legal. The scent is a unisex fragrance with notes of cinnamon, plum, ginger lily, and rose.
TheChanel Cruise show in Versailles involved a beauty look by hairstylist Sam McKnight and the house’s creative director of makeup Peter Philips that included powdered, embellished wigs, rosy cheeks, painted lips—the kind of coifs and makeup that Marie Antoinette herself would replicate.
“… It’s between girly and rebel,” described Philips as he applied pink shades of Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Rose Favorite, its Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Pétale, and its Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Evasion onto lids, cheeks, and mouths respectively. Philips also placed black velvet Chanel logo “beauty spots” onto models’ faces, high on the cheekbones and under the eye on either the left or right side of the face. The Chanel logo stickers will be sold as part of an upcoming beauty collection, alongside the Mouche de Beauté customized highlight and pink eyeshadow also used in the cruise show. The Collection Versailles de Chanel will be available later this year.
For hair, McKnight created Dutch boy bobs in different chalky pastel shades to long, bow-tied ponytails.
