TheChanel Cruise show in Versailles involved a beauty look by hairstylist Sam McKnight and the house’s creative director of makeup Peter Philips that included powdered, embellished wigs, rosy cheeks, painted lips—the kind of coifs and makeup that Marie Antoinette herself would replicate.
“… It’s between girly and rebel,” described Philips as he applied pink shades of Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Rose Favorite, its Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Pétale, and its Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Evasion onto lids, cheeks, and mouths respectively. Philips also placed black velvet Chanel logo “beauty spots” onto models’ faces, high on the cheekbones and under the eye on either the left or right side of the face. The Chanel logo stickers will be sold as part of an upcoming beauty collection, alongside the Mouche de Beauté customized highlight and pink eyeshadow also used in the cruise show. The Collection Versailles de Chanel will be available later this year.
For hair, McKnight created Dutch boy bobs in different chalky pastel shades to long, bow-tied ponytails.
