Giambattista Valli’s F/W 2012 Haute Couture had models coming down the runway with a hairnet-like veil - occasionally adorned with tropical butterflies - enveloping their heads.

Dior, now led by Raf Simons, and Armani Privé also used veils during their shows, a trend that may be having us put the turbans away.

Apparent beneath the veils, each designer used a defining eye. While Vallis’ models had whimsical frosted eyes, Dior opted for bold colored lashes. Armani, who’s embroidered veil hung more traditionally, concealed smokey cat-eyes.
